If you are looking for unspoiled river to do angling Babai River of mid-western region of Nepal is best destination. Located in most beautiful valley of Nepal, Babai Valley, Babai river is recently opened for fishing in 2011 for the people with legal permission from Bardiya National Park. Babai River flows amid of Bardiya National Park and houses more than 50 species of fishes including Golden Masheer (Tor Putitora) and Bullseye Snakehead (Channa marulius) and other species like Goonch (Bagarius yarelli) and Indian Trout Barb (Raiamas bola).
Angling in Babai River gives you tremendous experience of fishing, rafting and jungle safari. The river flowing amid lush forest of protected area of Bardiya National park also provide glimpse of wild animals rhinoceros, tiger, like greater, one-horned, Himalayan black bear, sloth bear, four-horned antelope, wild Asian elephant ,four species of deer (Samber, spotted, hog and barking deer), ghoral, leopard, and a large number of small mammals.
Along with rare animals Bardiya National park also houses various species of reptiles, amphibians, mollusks, arthropods. While rafting, we will also get glimpse of icrocodiles, gharial and mugger and over 50 species of fish.
As is recently opened for fishing and restricted without permit, you have chances of making more catch. The famous spots for fishing in Babai River are Chepang, and different camps inside Bardiya National Parks. The six days Fishing trips stars with sightseeing of UNESCO listed world heritage sites of Kathmandu valley followed by 40 minute flight to Nepalgunj next day and two hour drive to starting point Chepang.
During three days angling we will enjoy peaceful surroundings with creeping of birds, murmuring and continuous soft sound of river and fresh breeze coming from river and pristine vegetation. You will make catch of Golden Masheer and Goonch of up to 3-4 kg but Babai River has record of catching 15 kg fish. As Babai River is in restricted area we will be accompanied by guide assigned from Bardiya National Park.
